Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

"Iiii don't think we're done," Suula said. "We're never that lucky. If anything, I reckon it's going to start getting hard..."
She nods. "Indijona the Vagrant always had it hard at the end. And then he'd punch some Banites."

"We'll do what we must," Shanni responded. "I don't trust them and if they end up in anyway showing their hand before we leave then that may mean we have to do something." She shook her head. "The Lady is about taking risks, but for me they may be the risk we need to overcome. And if they are then .... what will be will be."

"We are far from done," Nihmri said. "There is even more here than was whispered. The ones who were chained made that clear."
She shook her head, and then turned her back on her fellow acolytes.
"We should press on. Much awaits us."

Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
The group explored more of the underground complex.
Part of it could have been made by different creatures from ancient times.
The team faced more foes, but the archer who now had enhanced his arrows with blood and specific runes could now pierce almost anything including stones or bypass protection spells like barkskin and stoneskin.
He had a few elemental arrows that he used at the right time. His explosives arrows however did little if anything.
The group discovered an ancient staff made for mages. One able to use the device could teleport to other places, even planes perhaps. In a place that looked like the temple of all faiths they met the God Cyric who was pretending to be the prelate...

Deeper into the ruins the party pushed, edging past an ominous crackling electrical device to confront three guardians, each holding part of a key needed to press on. The group slew these without too much problem, Slade's arrows proving quite deadly to these. The party found a powerful aged staff which allowed a mage to teleport a group across dimensions and distances unknown. After a couple of attempts, the group found itself back at what appeared to be The Temple of All Faiths and the awaiting prelate. However, it turned out to be the god Cyric and an extended debate ensued between the more religiously inclined and the god, which Slade stayed well clear of and didn't particularly follow, or care about, what was argued. Clearly, powers beyond were manipulating the party and its mission, or seeking to do so. Slade figured the wiser heads would sort out the issues and he'd follow, as long as it didn't get him into too much danger.

"So who's this Cyric bloke anyway? Some puffed up 'uman 'ho thinks he be a god? Certainly did talk 'nough fer one who didn't really believe what 'e was sayin', that's fer sure. As fer ye, young lady," Toric turned to Nih as he said this, "ye coulda told us 'bout yer 'secret' earlier, ye know. Not sure 'ow worshippin' two masters 'ho are diametrically opposed to each other works, but that ain't me problem. So long as yer not allied with any o' them dark powers like that puffed up balloon we just met, we'll be fine, eh?"

I know you're not exactly a scholar of non-dwarven deities, but you must have heard of Cyric. God of deception, murder, strife, madness.. the list goes on. He has a habit of acquiring other deities portfolios wherever he may. He's possibly the next worst thing to Bane.

"Best to not even say his name," warned Suula, making a warding gesture with her right hand. Her voice took on that hollow, deep tone she usually reserved for cursing and prophecy. "The Black Hand would see the world and everything in it broken under his heel, but the Black Sun, the Prince of Lies, he would see it all fall into anarchy... everything you know, everything that is stable, solid... kingdoms, families. Everything. A creeping rot taking out the heart of things. His followers are mad! Madder than me, certainly. Those who see no value in life."
She cast wary glances to the others. "I know none of you have any love for my Goddess, and you shouldn't, I suppose. But she is as she is. Misfortune simply is. The Black Sun always pushes to be more than he is. His touch makes you mad, has his people slay and sacrifice to make things fall, slays other Gods and draws them unto him. He devours... and that, really, is exactly the problem Nim has with him. Exactly the problem we have with him, now."
