While the others rested or celebrated or cooked or slowly succumbed to disease, Ravillion had decided to both entertain herself and deprive the Derro of a potential asset. So she was taking shots at the last remaining lizards of the fortress, enjoying herself to a degree above her usual demeanor. The raid had gone rather well, and while she may not have profited directly from it as some of their other jobs, she could still enjoy a mission gone right.

The Red Ryld had not been around to annoy her or her fellow Drow, although the ryld's decision to abandon the group would need to be touched upon, of course. Her fellow Drow had made fools of themselves right at the end of their task, which was perhaps something just built into the Drow themselves, to enjoy watching their fellow Drow fail or make fools of themselves. It also quite refreshing to see after she had the gall to make that comment about Ravillion and the rope. Yes, after that display of the two Ravillion would let the comment and slight go.

And finally, the Kobold discovering that the Duergar have allies which they communicate with using some magic mirror. The Male had made no mention of it, so either he falling behind the Kobold or he was keeping secrets... quite likely the latter. But if that is the case then so be it. She could keep secrets herself after all.

As the last lizard fell to its arrow inflicted death she pulled herself out of her thoughts and decided to return to the others, for a moment at least. She would try this 'fowl soup' of the Bugbear and enjoy it at her leisure in solace. At least the food, while still nothing compared to what she preferred, was getting better thanks to him.

Old Rhoga fell asleep in the outpost while waiting for the others to return. Her magic eye was hiding and and keeping watch outside. Soon the others would return... or not.

Rogha's Magic Eye ventured closer to the fortress. There was no sign of activity. The eye went back. The witch woke up and put the floating eye in her empty socket determined to go find the others or die trying.

Eventually she found a way into the fortress and joined with the others who had just cleared the place.

The next mission they got took them to the surface...

// Was playing on Mac laptop over wifi. Had some expected lag and nwn crashed 3 times. The last crash was about 2 min before the end of the game so I did come back. Don't think I missed anything or any quest related XP.

While the crew took a break and let the bug dig, Vot set about preparing one of his best meals- no, this was not a simple meal, it was a creation- yet.

Crab stuffed shrooms with garlic'd butter. They would drool over this. He was fighting his appetite himself, but this was art and couldn't be rushed. He painstakingly crafted each shroom with iron discipline and uncompromising precision. And with just a cook fire.

When the job was nearing finished, Vot allowed his mind to wander to their task. Kidnapping a lord. If they hadn't just taken a Duergar fortress, he'd have said they were crazy for even trying this. That said, he was pretty sure that their employer actually IS crazy. Maybe it was those oath stones, but she seemed like she was losing it to Vot. It may be getting time to move on from the Derro.

As things stood, they were on course to light up the entire surface island in chaos. Vot didn't like it. He wasn't an exclusively underground creature like the Derro and some of his crew. He actually planned to return there sooner or later, and he would prefer if it wasn't on fire. The Derro woman might be taking things too far. He'd bring it up again after the job, maybe.

Standing in the chamber of worked stone Tian’ith looked down as the others squeezed through the narrow passage, signalling them to be as quiet as possible. To one side there was a ladder leading up to a trapdoor above. Given the nature of the stone it was likely they were inside the humans' citadel, a position reinforced by the badge they had found. The motif on it was unfamiliar but it had the vague appearance of an emblem of office or military standing. For the moment they were undetected, and it was likely they would not be expecting an infiltration from this direction.

She looked up at the trapdoor trying to get a sense of its use. With luck the badge had fallen through the door rather than dropped from the clothing of a visitor. Either way, though it was reasonable to assume their target was somewhere above there was no way to tell what lay above the trapdoor or what they would have to pass to reach him. Or, for that matter, how they would identify him. The only clue they may have to go on was he would be male and probably better attired. Though how that was quantified in a human she wasn’t certain.

At the sight of Zau’lann squeezing through the passage she gave a tight nod of acknowledgement, biting down an amused look at the expression of distaste on his face. More so than ever she was struck by their situation, this was not how it should have been. Yet even now he was surprising her, revealing depths and strengths she’d not seen even after they had discovered shared passion. She spoke hushed words of warning for all, but he’d know they were mostly for him.

“Be under no illusions,” Tian’ith said in a hushed tone, “this may be the most danger we have ever been in. If we’re discovered there may be no retreat, and if captured quarter is unlikely. If they sleep in the dark hours then we may find little resistance but we do nothing that will attract notice.” She looked at each in turn, lingering a little longer over what might be considered her usual suspect. “But if we do we retreat and consider our options. Understand?”

Miiq offered Phol some of Vot's cooking. The little bat seemed to appreciate the meal, eagerly devouring several mouthfuls of crab. Once finished, it made a pleased, chirp-like sound, and then proceed to flap about the tunnels a while, stretching its wings.

It was well that Miiq's familiar should be well-fed this night. The challenge before them would be a complicated one, and it did not play to their strengths. Of all them, tiny Phol was most at home in this strange, sky-touched place.

"Failure is preferable to capture, yes," Miiq hissed, in the wake of Tian'ith's warnings. "If things go wrong, we move quickly. Humans will be surprised; in disarray. But we must be gone by the time they regroup."

Back to the surface again! Darson wondered what reception awaited them in the human castle. Would the humans be better organized and more numerous than the Druegar? The group would certainly stand out with the mix of races on the team; there would be little doubt that they weren't from the surface. Perhaps they'd get lucky and catch the humans totally unprepared. Maybe they could wipe out all witnesses and sow great confusion with this raid. Maybe, maybe, maybe...
