Was she getting careless? Magda looked around at the rest of the squad and rubbed her face. They'd all walked out of what had seemed like some ridiculous movie or computer game set up. Just when she was beginning to think the whole thing was real something would come along and shake the belief. Zombie pirates, for crying out loud, how could you be expected to take it seriously?

But what if it was? What if this was just another example of your worst nightmares brought to ... well, life? Though that wasn't entirely accurate in this case. Was this some other dimension that crossed to their own in some kind of dream state and fueled the imaginations of the creators of such monstrosities in writing or on film? Could one of them really die? More to the point, would it be her fault?

There was only one thing to be done. Taking a deep breath she moved closer to Simmons and gestured him into a low voice conversation.

"This ... is going to sound strange, Sergeant, but I suggest you query my decisions strongly in future if they sound dangerous. I ..." the Lieutenant swallowed. "I think there's a chance I may not be of sound mind."

((OOC - Should be in game this Saturday, barring the usual unforeseen circumstances, but will be away next week (28th) as I'm helping run our owner's club stand at a bike show.))

Simmons leaned in to hear the LT's hushed tones. He looked at her full in the the face after her remark about not been of sound mind. In a tone that was low but full of urgency he said, "Ghee Ma'am, what the hell are you talking about? Don't let any of the others hear you talk like that!" He glanced around to make sure none of the others were listening. "Get a grip on yourself, we all need each other to be strong if we're to get through this. I admit, those zombies freaked me out and as for that ghost.....well, let's just say I'm going to have nightmares after this." He reached out and clenched her hand, wrapping his thumb around hers and extended his fingers around the back of her hand. "We can do this. We can!"

The lieutenant stiffened noticably as her hand was taken, a momentary flicker in her eyes and a soft intake of breath marking the control of some instinctive response, but after a moment she breathed out and nodded firmly. "You're right, Sergeant" Magda responded in a low voice, "for the sake of the men I'll hold firm, but if I suggest something stupid the order still stands." Another long breath perhaps disguised a sigh. "Fish out of water doesn't even come close here."

Zombies, ghosts, Junior frowned as he contemplated what other surprises might lie ahead. He vaguely remembered some monsters in stories could only be harmed by special weapons. He studied his worn plain looking long sword and pondered the implications if that was true in this place.

The new priest they'd run into, and apparently added to the team, was a fireeater; he'd keep the Sarge company. If he could do something about these undead and heal them up with this world's magic, he couldn't be a bad addition.

The Father works in odd ways sometimes. Juntar pondered to himself, as they made their way from the river island where the ghost pirate dwelt. I thought my mission failed when the ship sank. Until Captian Argossy appeared with these strange warriors. He smiled, and looked to the sky growing lighter above him. One duty fullfilled, and perhaps a new path laid out.

They took some time to relax in the castle. Majid even took a real bath in a pool. It was like a small harem. Later he tried the thick bath robe that was quite nice to wear. Most of the guys had left to pursue some errands except for Junior. They chatted for a while, some jokes among some more serious topics.

OOC

This could be my last game in this time zone. I plan to go back east soon.

After a little while walking with the sergeant and corporal Magda's impatience got the better of her. She left the others wandering around the city, in search of something appropriate to wear, and made her way to the inn searching out the blue clad bard and his quiet friend.

((Reminder that I'm out tomorrow so .... actually, was it a bad idea to have her go off on her own when I'm not going to be around? :? ))

After a long leisurely brunch and chat with Maj, Junior decided to try out the baths the others had raved about. He wandered around a bit till he ran into a maid who wasn't busy and got her to get things set up for him. He spent an hour or so, simply soaking in the hot water, motioning every now and again for more hot water to keep it nice and steamy. Feeling totally mellow, he forked over a bit of extra gold and got her to find some nice oil and provide him with a soothing full body massage as he stretched out on his bed. He drifted off to sleep under her nimble fingers.
