Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread #3

"We've the key, we can go where we like!" grinned Polytropos. "Even to the depths of Hades. Who... who would have thought it, eh...?"
He becomes uncharacteristically somber, and puts an arm around Kataramene, sitting next to him near the campfire. "It's been... nothing sort of amazing. Barely stopped to think. But we've seen the world. Haven't we? Crossed it from one side to the next. We've sailed! Seen beastmen in Thrace and walking dead men in Egypt. We've seen nymphs and satyrs and hydras and lions... fought giants and dragons. Met gods and walked through their halls. Fought alongside Hercules, and the Spartans, and... well, and we weren't killed by the Amazons at least."
He smiled, and sighed, and looked at them all. "It'll make a grand poem, won't it? I mean, whatever happens... we'll be remembered, forever?"

Eleni stared sombrely at the key they'd forged - the key that would take them to Tartarus yet not, in all likelihood, back again.
"I don't know, Pol," she said, nearly whispering. "I don't know if anything gets to be remembered forever. Forever is a long time, after all. Longer than we can possibly fathom. But all things considered, well..."
The sorceress turned away from the key to face her friends, and smiled faintly.
"I suppose we made a pretty good try of things, didn't we?"

Kataramene leaned against Pol, in that small act, again uncharacteristically, showing affection openly. She spoke quietly and with a reflective tone uncommon in her voice.
"I asked my grandmother if my father was dead, once, as my mother will never speak of him." The woman paused for a moment, settling comfortably closer. "She wouldn't say, and whether or not she knows herself I couldn't tell, but she did say one thing. No one is truly dead until the results of what the did in life are ended. Their life echoes in the world until the last of their actions no longer has an effect."
There was another pause. "My grandmother never set foot outside the village, so where she got that from I don't know, but I like to think it will apply to us. Even if people don't remember us, or even the things we have done, they have changed lives and in that we'll always live on."

The trip to the old temple and proved successful; the various stone guardians had been dispatched and the key they needed forged. Leonaidas had scored an odd crystal shield, which should prove handy every now and again. He wondered what exactly that key would unlock. He doubted it was any place he really wanted to venture into; some had said it was key to the underworld itself. Hopefully, there would be plenty of loot.

Hey all, just a heads-up that I have found a new player for the campaign. He's about to head out on a two-week vacation, but he'll join us when he returns on April 19. He's "RogueZair" on the Internet.
As for this week, +2250xp for full-group IC posting.
And I suspect that Telemachus is about to stumble into a pit or something. Don't worry, he'll be fine once Topato's work schedule eases up.

Sparta.
Once more the heroes climbed the mountain guarded by the brave soldiers of Sparta.
At first they were not allowed to proceed but after some smooth talk they managed to cross the bridge where some time before they had to stop a horde of demons from invaded the world.
They went up to the statue of Athena they had promised not to touch but fate decided otherwise as the spell used to open the portal to the other world made the statue vanish. They was not good. Sparta would be greatly displeased. There was still time however to think about a solution. For now it was more important to hunt and destroy demons.
"I did not expect to find a chained man in here. How long did he say he has been down here?" asked Andreas.
