Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

Suula rolled her eyes. "Sis - just, no. Now is not the time to play about, alright? Just - do what you do, ward off the badness and keep them alive, and we'll take care of the curses. Steel-tipped, sharp curses, mostly."
She scowled, gaze narrowing. "These bastards want to keep dredging up old ghosts and memories to hurt us. It's about time they got a dose of what reality feels like."

Perhaps if we can't maintain magic on ourselves we can instead direct more at them, and at the environment? Summoned creatures, wards, giant storms of acid... etc. We're adaptable enough to cope.

"Not usually my style," Nihmri said, scratching her head. "I think I'll focus on blessing that let me undo whatever other nasty things those eyestalks can do to you. Just, you know. So some of us don't spend half the fight as a statue."

The party swept thru the beholder tunnels slaying eyes of various shapes and sizes foolish enough to cross their path. They finally found the leader, who proved a bit tougher to dispatch; he'd turn invisible and scoot around thru tunnels to flank the searching adventurers. Slade could usually track him, thanks to his superior senses, but his bow and arrows didn't seem to be very effective most of the time, so he didn't really do much damage with the shots he was able to get off. Eventually, the team did him in though and moved on to the next challenge, which turned out to be dragons.
Slade never liked hunting dragons, as they easily spotted him, sometimes at some distance. In addition, getting too close often unnerved him and left him paralyzed with fear, a potentially fatal state to be in. Thus, he kept a very respectable distance away from these creatures as they methodically cleared the cave complex and adjoining areas. Most had a few underlings or vassals that proved more susceptible to his skills, so he was able to wreak some havoc among those. Unfortunately, none of the beasts seemed to have any sort of hoard, so there wasn't any profit to show for the work. Some ventured perhaps the hoard was pooled and guarded by the supreme dragon they had yet to face. Slade hoped they got something for their efforts, but had his doubts, given the past history of these dream realms.

"Alright, so's we got, what, five keys now? Should be 'nough to open them doors." Toric said as he looked at the others. "As much as I be liking the smashy-smashy, I ain't lookin' forward ta fightin' whatever it is that kept them others in-line." He grunted and lifted his ax. "But we gotta do what we gotta do, aye? So let's get ta doin'. Oh, and Althor, if'n ye want this necklace*, let me know 'cause it don't seem to be doin' me much good. Might go back to me old one 'cause that one helped against that damned fear those dragons like to throw off."
