Baldur's Gate II - Discussion

Also feel free to write your character's profile in here as an introduction prior to starting the game.

I may start an IC thread as well, if required. Obviously there's no XP bonuses for IC posts, it's just for fun, but we can sort out things like equipment distribution between sessions, and stuff like that.

*Note, please still use the scheduling thread for organizing playing times & cancellations.

Sorcerer - magic
Wild Mage - magic
Kensai - frontline
Cleric (?) - healer
Swashbuckler - thief

I think we need a 6th player! :P

BG2 can be played solo, so I think 5 will be enough, Purple. :P Adding in a sixth will only make keeping everybody together that much harder. Anyway, since Klasa is going with a wild mage, I may switch over to an undead hunter.

Just as long as I can get a longsword or something... I don't know what equipment we actually start with, so I may look into other weapon types.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure we'll find a +1 longsword in the first dungeon. If fact, one of my favorite weapons in the game is a longsword, though you kind of have to be an evil character to get it, and it's gotten pretty late in the game.

We start with:

a mace
a katana
one set of scale
one set of chain
one set of studded leather
one set of regular leather (I think)
a dagger +1 (behind a trap)
a quarterstaff
a long sword
a 2-h long sword
one helmet
a battleaxe
a club
a scimitar (I think - it may come later).

The starting dungeon has pretty much every weapon type in the game avaiable somewhere in it as well as a few magical weapons - the best being a 2-h longsword +2 so pick whatever weapon type you like, Raganui.

Ah, but what about you all? What types are you going for? I would go with a katana but it's said they are rare to get magical versions of.

Well, I'll be going with a ranged weapon. I've always liked that dart of returning found in Watcher's Keep... But will probably end up using a sling most likely.

If my codes work properly, I should be able to add the two bonus merchants - one of which has a magical katana. I'll be going with a longbow, 2-handed sword, maybe axe (good vampire killing throwing axe) and possibly halberd plus whatever weapon classes aren't used, but there's a particular sword I have my eye on that will be my main weapon.

Oh? What sword is that? And if so I will go with Katana, especially if the katanas aren't just like +1 or +2... but have something else like some of those good other weapons.
