((stuff has come up! Unfortunately, I won't be there for this week.
Can imagine Poly is there in spirit!))
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread
So the legend was true.
King Minos had asked Daedalus to build a maze... Andreas remembered the story of Theseus who went in with a a ball of thread given by Ariadne and his sword hidden under his tunic, killed that creature by cutting its throat and escaped.
But now there was another one and they would have to go and deal with that.
"Ah ah, we got a maze to explore and a monster to tame. Who's got a ball of thread?"

"That's what the paint is for, Andreas,"Katamarene replied. "String can get wound up, cut or any number of things. We don't have to sneak supplies in so we take what will hopefully work best." She paused. "Someone perhaps find some parchment and ink too, and we can draw a map as we go." She paused again. "And torches, it might be dark." Yet another pause. "And go and wake up Damian, as I'm fairly sure a bear would work nicely against anything with bovine aspirations."

Shouldn't rule out some other folks moving in and taking over the maze. The legends would be a good cover to keep the nosey away. If the place is riddled with traps, not sure big bull guys would be able to traverse it so easily. Might pay to check around the exterior once we get there and see if there's any signs of non-bovine activity.
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread
"They say the Minotaur had excellent senses and memory," Eleni mused. "That was how it got to be master of the labyrinth. One assumes it would be able to manage with traps, as well - and even if the creature that has now taken up residence there is no Minotaur, we have to assume it is just as clever. But you're right, Leo - we should check around for clues before venturing in. Also..."
After a few second of looking through her gear, the sorceress retrieved a small stack of parchment, grinning. "I'll make sure we have a map. I was going to use these for something else, but I suppose not dying is slightly more important than research notes and travel journals. And I can always buy more, besides."

"We might expect to find a giant half-bull monstrosity, but I'd be unsurprised if it were just some scoundrel wearing a bulls head." Telemachus mused. "The legend is just too ripe for imitation. If the real thing has come back somehow though, we'll have to find out where from."

Just a heads-up: I will be on in-laws duty from March 23-30, so unfortunately I will miss two sessions. On the plus side, I get to visit Disney World during the trip.
Re: Heroes of the Peloponnese Game Thread
Underground. In a maze. As Damian sat by the fire, he couldn't think of anywhere else he'd rather not be. He took comfort in the fact that Aias was with him and that his friends were also nearby. He stared into the fire, lost in contemplation before speaking up:
"I think I know what the riddle is:
The virtuous one would be one who uses the rule of law for the good of all. ((Lawful Good))
Nature's child would be neutral in all respects because Nature is neither good, nor evil, it just is. ((True Neutral))
The path of blood would be one for those that care for nothing but violence and death. ((Chaotic Evil))"
He turned back to the fire. "I could be wrong, but those are my thoughts. Either way, I feel we're getting very close to whatever has taken up residence in this maze. As for the path of blood, it could just be chaos because war is chaotic no matter how disciplined the soldiers."

Andreas like Damian also seemed to be lost in his thoughts for a while.
"We should really take a pause and think about this, otherwise we may run out of precious healing herbs and bandages too soon."
"As we know Athena is the Goddess of war, so war, destruction, pain perhaps for those wounded or death not something we are ready to embrace."
"But Wisdom and Nature? Damian isn't Nature wise by essence? Or if what you say is true does it mean that perhaps only a few of us can given the choice of the right path get through this? What if we are not one of the three types you described earlier? Shall we just seat this out and wait outside? Or do we simply to follow the one who can open the doors?"
