The Gods had their way to show the path. This time a dog proved to be a valuable asset. The group followed the animal into the lower part of the castle. Apart from being damp, dark and dusty the place look neither like a proper cellar or a dungeon. Nevertheless, a guilty man was found with a letter that was evidence of foul play. The man did not surrender and was now dead so following the lead of an unsigned letter would prove difficult.

The group visited the giant blacksmith who had made two outstanding swords for the knights. He also had made arrow heads. With that the devoted had better chances to defeat the were-creatures.

But steel alone or in this case silver was not enough. During the last encounter with one of the beast, Pius got dazed or stunned and was unable to fight for a moment. The right protection spell could have certainly avoided this predicament.

Toric shook his head. "Whoda thought a dog would lead us ta the murderer of the poison maker? Will wonders ne'er cease?" He snorted. "'Least we 'ave new weapons now, if only Pius would use 'is 'stead of standin 'round 'miring the flowers." He winked at Pius. "Still, we did best that bearwere, werebear, wear bear, whatever it was, thingy pretty 'andily. Next time we fight that overgrown dog'll be 'is last I be thinkin'."

"Stop worrying about that and start thinking about this," Shanni commented. Her eyes turned from the stars, the darkness she knew she bore, yet denied, shrank away from the light that grew before them. Seemingly fleeing with the lengthening shadow cast by the radiance, as it ran far beyond her kneeling form.

"The Lady, may she favour us, and the Moonmaiden see eye to eye on many things. They both shine on those who seek their own fortune, or to complete a high task, bravely." Staring across it she caught sight of Suula and shuffled around without rising, wordlessly sliding her hand into that of her sister as she reached her side. "If she'll grant us her aid then it will favour our chances mightily. So think on how we can best make an appeal to her whatever happens next."

"Show deference my friends, we may stand in the presence of an avatar" Amathain said, transfixed on the light before them.

Nihmri looked towards the night sky and smiled. There was something like vindication in her expression.

"I told you all there was something here, see?" she said, entirely too pleased with herself. "I could feel it the first time, but it was fainter then. He of the Third Eye speaks no untruths."
