Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

"We'll need to get these back to the old herbwife , and hope that the brewing of the remedy is a quick process. And then we need to start looking for some answers. Even with the town cured, we've little idea who might have cursed them in the first place, save that it might be related to our presence."

"You're completely right, Ama" Shanni responded, giving him a bright smile. "Though I'm sure you wo... both of you would look magnificent riding into town that way it might not solve the whole problem."
"Who knows," she continued, "the old lady may say something when we get back. I get the feeling that she knows more than how to cure that disease. Once she has made the cure from the herbs we found," she glanced at Pius. "and learns that we removed those rat finks then she may tell us more."
Leaning over she muttered something to Suula and nodded firmly, then resumed the smile.

The letter is addressed to Amathain Calindor, printed in neat script on expensive vellum. It arrived in a fold of fine leather sealed with the imprint of Torm.
Brother in the Faith, I greet you.
News has reached me that a paladin of Torm has been accomplishing great deeds within the Moonshae Isles and along the Sword Coast. All that I have heard indicates that you have upheld with your actions the highest ideals of the Faith.
No doubt there are many tasks that still confront you, but I must beseech your aid on a mission of utmost importance. A call for aid has come from our allies in the North. The city fathers of Mirabar have reported an invasion of evil giants from the Spine of the World. These fell creatures appear to be unusually organized for their kind. They have assaulted various mining camps, trading caravans, and even fortified settlements within the region. The Council of Sparkling Stones needs help. In short, they need you.
I apologize for not approaching you through the superiors of your local temple, but time is of the essence and my understanding is that you have been assigned to independent duty for some time. I have taken the liberty of securing transportation by sea up the coast to Luskan, and from there along the river to Mirabar. Present this letter to Elastul Raurym, the marchion of the city, as formal introduction.
Yours in the Faith,
Barriltar Bhandraddon
High Cleric and Pontiff of the Faith

Slade studied the suit of black armor draped over a stool next to his cot. It was much heavier and less flexible than his old leathers, but there was no denying the superior protection and quality of the craftsmanship. If its previous owner hadn't been so arrogant, he might still be wearing it, rather than lying sprawled along the side of a country road. The easterner had thought he was talented enough, or his pursuers were amateurs, and had attempted to sneak away without much benefit of cover. Thanks to his tracking skills and keen senses, Slade had never lost sight of the assassin for more than a few seconds as he attempted to thread his way back and forth through the group in his efforts to evade them. Slade had managed to put a few arrows into him and roughly direct the others after him till Pius got in a final killing blow. He had been surprised though to see how the man briefly disappeared into thin air time after time and paid close attention to pick up clues as to how he managed to do it.
In the end Slade wondered what difference it really made. The party had given the four swords they'd collected to yet another easterner said to be a prince, but they'd not gotten anything in return but gratitude, which didn't pay any bills or buy any wine. Well, he did have a new set of armor out of it, so it wasn't a total loss.
He listened as the letter was read aloud and wondered again whether they were going to see any profit out of yet another quest for the common good.

It had been a good day except for the Sheriff who could not be saved. Pius felt responsible for the man's death since he had asked Slade to scout and try to locate the hostage hoping that he could be released while being distracted by Pius and the others. The man in black was able to spot Slade and killed the poor Sheriff before anyone could do a thing.
Eventually the group hunted the man and killed him. They also killed a number of shadow creatures.
At the end of the day, the curse was lifted, Evil was defeated and four swords were returned to their rightful owner...

Amathain finishes reading the missive aloud, and looks up to his companions.
"This message has travelled far to reach us, and would send us even further onwards. It is a high honour indeed to come to the notice of the leader of ones faith, and a greater one to be entrusted with a mission of importance. It is clear that the people of Mirabar are in need of help, and I intend to answer the summons and make the journey to Mirabar to do what I may. I would be honoured to have you all join me, but it is of course a personal decision ou must make alone, after all we each have our own gods to please and paths to tread. But I feel like we are steered this way, already we have crossed paths with migrating giants and the trouble they have wrought. Perhaps there is something important here for all of us."

Toric sat with his feet on the table and chugged an ale as Am read the letter. After he was done, Toric wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, smacked his lips a few times, and grinned. "O' course ye got me ax, friend! Don' think I'd be missin' whacking a few giants in the kneecaps now! I missed the 'nes ye got when I had me...episode and I don' plan on missin' any more! Just say when and I'll be there with me boots on."

"We're to go even further north, then?" Nihmri said, making a face best described as exceedingly sour. "I thought these climes more than cold enough already. And it seems like the further we go, the more deranged the souls we encounter. Gods, how very promising."
